IELTS, developed by the British Council, University of Cambridge, and the International Development Programme of Australian Universities, is a language proficiency exam. It is widely accepted by higher education institutions in countries such as the UK, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and the USA, as well as by some universities in Turkey for exemption from preparatory classes. Additionally, it is used to assess the English proficiency of employees in certain organizations. IELTS offers two types of exams: General and Academic, with the Academic IELTS being relevant for higher education. The paper-based IELTS exam consists of four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
Anyone with an advanced level of English can take the IELTS exam. It is primarily chosen by students who wish to continue their studies in a foreign language at university, pursue education abroad, undertake postgraduate studies, or join master's programs. Additionally, it is widely used in the business world for job applications, promotions, salary increases, and performance evaluations. There are no age, nationality, or gender restrictions, and since there is no pass or fail in this exam, even those with lower English proficiency can participate.
IELTS is accepted by over 7,000 organizations in 135 countries worldwide, including universities, immigration offices, government agencies, professional bodies, and international companies.
You can apply for and take the IELTS exam as many times as you wish.
The IELTS exam is conducted at test centers designated on the ielts.org website, with dates announced in advance on the same site. Applications are made online, and the exam fee must be paid to the bank. After selecting the exam date and filling in the required personal information on the online application form, all communication regarding the exam is carried out via email.
The total test duration is 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Listening, Reading, and Writing sections are conducted in a single session, while the Speaking test is held separately within a maximum of 7 days.
The test results are valid for 2 years. You can take the exam as many times as you want throughout the year and use any of the results you obtain.
Students wishing to join this program should have at least an Upper-Intermediate level, as determined by our placement test.
Candidates are scored on a scale of 1 to 9. Each section of the test (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) is scored separately on this scale. Each score corresponds to a different level of English proficiency. Generally, the accepted scores for applications to various institutions and organizations range between 5.5 and 7.
